We are in the process of creating a level 1 CGS atrium that will serve pre-k and kindergarteners. Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a Montessori-based religious formation program for children, beginning at the age of 3. It seeks to create and facilitate a sacred "hands-on" space for the children called an "atrium". The atrium is a place in which both the children and the catechists can hear, ponder, and celebrate the most essential mysteries of the Christian faith, as revealed in the scriptures and liturgy. Learn more about CGS here.
How does Family Formation work?
Parents and children in grades kindergarten-5th grade will meet at St Ben's to learn more about the faith through insightful teachings and discussions.
Parents are required to come to the first meeting of the month, this meeting is meant to help parents assume their role as the primary educator and catechist of their children, the children will learn in their separate classrooms among their peers. The second meeting of the month is mainly for kids, but parents are welcome to stay at visit with other families.
Over the course of the month, parents teach two lessons to their children at home with the easy-to-use A Family of Faith parent guide and student activity books.
We encourage you to check out the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd website for more information.

The Catholic Church has a series of steps in place for someone to become Catholic. These steps exist to help the individual be very sure about the decision they’re making through a number of informative sessions about what the Church believes and why. We are committed to removing as many obstacles as possible that keep you from becoming Catholic.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a journey of faith for persons who are not baptized, who are baptized in another Christian tradition and desire to become Catholic, and baptized Catholics in need of First Communion and/or Confirmation.
If you are interested in becoming Catholic or learning more about the Catholic faith, please contact Fr Matt, or Dcn. Jim and Margo Philbin at [email protected] and [email protected]. RCIA sessions begin in the Fall and are held on Wednesday evenings at the Cathedral.
